May 7, 2022
Have you had questions about HOA dues or what the HOA does for your community? All of your questions will be answered here!
We receive lots of questions about what an HOA does and why you have to pay dues. We're hoping this is able to answer all of your questions!
- What is an HOA?
To begin, HOA stands for Homeowner's Association. The purpose of an HOA is to "protect and improve property values for the homeowners living within a community. An HOA does this by implementing restrictions on what homeowners can and cannot do," (Homedbuyer.com) as well as, maintaining the upkeep of common areas such as sidewalks and ponds. Currently, 58% of homeowners in the United States are members of an HOA. Homeowners Associations are non-profit organizations made up of volunteers that create and enforce rules for subdivisions of homes. - Why does Riverwood have an HOA in our communities?
Riverwood Homes has designated HOA's within each of our communities to help with the maintenance of the general areas, as well as, helping manage long-term property value. - How does and HOA benefit you and your home?
To provide an example of how an HOA can benefit you, think about a time when you were concerned about your neighbor not cutting their yard, or an open pool in someone's back yard that small children could fall into. All of these things and more would be resolved by an HOA and help with the general welfare of the community you call home. - What is the annual cost of an HOA?
The average HOA fees in America are around $200-$300 a month, but here at Riverwood, the annual cost of the HOA within your community is only $100! The fee will cover the maintenance of general areas such as street lights, sidewalks, and ponds. - What are the general guidelines?
The general guidelines for an HOA can vary based on the HOA your home is located in. The major guidelines of our HOA include, street parking, lawn maintenance, common area maintenance, and shed size restrictions.
